Germany captain Philipp Lahm will miss the upcoming friendlies against Ukraine and the Netherlands.

Coach Joachim Loew says Lahm will get a rest because he's playing a lot of matches this season. Loew says he can also try out other players for the position of left back.

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer will miss the match in Ukraine next Friday but will be back in goal for the game against the Netherlands in Hamburg on November 15.

Loew says Tim Wiese and Ron-Robert Zieler will each play one half in Ukraine.
