Madrid:
David Beckham was included on Saturday in Real Madrid's squad for this weekend's league game against FC Barcelona after recovering from a left knee tendon injury. Beckham, who has failed to make Madrid's starting lineup in five of the past six games, is reportedly set for the bench again. Madrid coach Fabio Capello said Saturday that Beckham remains in his plans. The former England captain has yet to agree a two-year contract extension even though his current deal expires in June. "If he extends his contract, I have no problem with it. I have 20 squad members. I look at training and Beckham is training very well, but at the moment I have a different idea of the first team," said Capello. Reyes returns Also included in Madrid's 18-man squad for Sunday's clash at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium was forward Jose Antonio Reyes, who has missed the last two games with a muscle tear in his right thigh. Midfielder Jose Maria "Guti" Gutierrez has recovered from a swollen left ankle, although striker Ronaldo is suspended and fullbacks Michel Salgado and Cicinho are injured. Meanwhile, Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard has omitted left back Giovanni van Bronckhorst and forward Santi Ezquerro from his squad for the game. Madrid, which hasn't won a trophy since 2003, is in fifth place with 11 points. Defending champion Barcelona leads with 16 points. (AP)Topics mentioned in this article
