The European Championship has been marred by hooliganism with Russian fans at the centre of the trouble. Masked Russia supporters charged at England fans, punching and kicking them, after the final whistle of the 1-1 Group B draw at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille on Saturday.
Slovakia lost 2-1 to Wales in their opening match in Bordeaux. Competitive meetings between Russia and Slovakia have been very even. The nations met in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying, each losing 1-0 at home.
Slovakia have never before competed in a UEFA European Championship final tournament as an independent nation, as part of Czechoslovakia they appeared in three four-team finals.
