Inter Milan centre-back Andrea Ranocchia and Siena forward Mattia Destro have been dropped from the Italy squad as coach Cesare Prandelli named his 23-man Euro 2012 list on Tuesday.
Prandelli had reduced his group to 25 names on Monday ahead of the scheduled warm-up friendly against Luxembourg in Parma on Tuesday.
That match has now been cancelled due to an earthquake in the region that killed at least 12 people.
When Italy's final squad was announced just before midday local time, there were no surprises.
Ranocchia hardly played for Inter last season as he fell behind Walter Samuel and Lucio in the pecking order.
Destro has never won an Italy cap and was something of a surprise inclusion in the original expanded 32-man list.
Domenico Criscito missed out due to his implication in the Calcioscommesse match-fixing scandal, meaning that Palermo left-back Federico Balzaretti is going in his place.
Italy are in Group C in Poland and Ukraine alongside world champions Spain, Ireland and Croatia.
