New Delhi:

Mike Young masterminded Australia's metamorphosis as one of the best fielding units in international cricket and the American is convinced that the Indian under-19 players can raise the bar when they break into the senior team.

At a time when fielding, especially catching, has emerged as a major concern for the Indian team under Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Young predicted a brighter future for India and was thoroughly impressed by the techniques of the colts training in Mumbai for the Under-19 World Cup starting on January 15 in New Zealand.

"If what I witnessed today is an indicator of what the future holds for India at the senior international level, then that future looks very bright," said Young who is currently working with the Indian team for the ODI series against Sri Lanka and was asked to have a look at the youngsters.

Young, primarily a baseball coach, who also worked briefly with the New Zealand cricket team, said he was impressed by India under-19 coach Chandrakant Pandit's understanding of the techniques and said he did not offer any radical suggestion.

"Energy and having fun when fielding, that is what I asked them to focus on," Young told 'Cricinfo'.

Impressed by the commitment of the players, Young said, "Many of them spoke up and explained how what we had just done felt to them. It was a tremendous sign of them truly wanting to learn and improve but more importantly, wanting to understand the most effective way to do so."
