Cricketer Joginder Sharma, who is also the Deputy Superintendent of Haryana Police, has landed into a controversy after his cousin Sonu lodged a criminal complaint against him with the Shivaji Colony Police Station.
In his complaint lodged on Saturday night, Sonu has charged Joginder with beating him up resulting to injuries.
Taking a serious view of the complaint, Rohtak SSP B Sathish Balan has marked the complaint to DSP (City) Jaiveer Rathi for further investigation.
He has also assured the complainant that appropriate action would be taken against Joginder if he is found guilty after inquiry.
In his complaint, Sonu said his family shop, which was located at Kath Mandi on the Jhajjar road here, was demolished by the district authorities.
The authorities then announced compensation which was 'illegally' withdrawn by Joginder's brother Deepak Sharma whereas it should have been received by his family, he claimed.
"When I talked to Joginder Sharma about the shop compensation, he started thrashing me leading to injuries. Consequently, I had to get medical treatment from civil hospital," alleged Sonu in his complaint.
He maintained that he had also submitted a separate complaint against Joginder to Rohtak SSP for getting justice.
Meanwhile, Joginder has refuted all the allegations leveled against him by his cousin Sonu and termed the complainant as "false" and "baseless".
Baljeet Singh, Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, said family dispute over the shop compensation was the reason behind the incident.
Joginder had also lodged a complaint against his cousin in this regard, he maintained.
