Former India batter Krishnamachari Srikkanth has slammed Gujarat Titans (GT) star Shahrukh Khan after his poor outing with the bat in the IPL 2026 clash against the Punjab Kings (PBKS). The Tamil Nadu batter was dismissed for just four off six balls, failing to give his team a big finish. His latest failure comes after an underwhelming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) campaign, where he scored just 18 runs in four matches. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth tore into Shahrukh, saying that the batter played a "selfish knock" against PBKS.
"GT's batting is very ordinary. Shahrukh Khan hardly scored even in SMAT. He played in the 11 and just played for himself at the end. Their batting is too dependent on the top three," said Srikkanth, who was part of India's World Cup winning side in 1983.
He also criticized the GT management for sending Shahrukh ahead of both Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan.
"They wasted Rahul Tewatia in the PBKS game, and the same applies to Rashid Khan. Both of them should have gone ahead of Shahrukh Khan. There is no way Shahrukh Khan should have gone ahead in the batting order. GT muffed it up with their order," he added.
Meanwhile, former India batter Aakash Chopra criticised the captaincy of GT skipper Shubman Gill and said his leadership was 'left a bit to be desired'.
"GT need to rethink how their 4, 5, and 6 are structured. Even the bowling plans were puzzling. Siraj still had two overs left when the game was almost done, and Prasidh Krishna was brought in quite late. Overall, Shubman Gill's captaincy also left a bit to be desired," he said.
He also questioned the team's selection and batting order.
"They have continued with Shahrukh Khan, but I felt Kumar Kushagra also had a case for selection. GT need to rethink how their Nos. 4, 5 and 6 are structured," he added.
GT will now will take on Rajasthan Royals at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
