# Root, for the first time, has managed 300 runs in a Test series - 328 at an average of 41.00 in nine innings, including a century and a fifty.
# Root's 68 is his third fifty in Tests - his second highest score vs Australia, next only to the 180 at Lord's last month.
# Root and Cook were involved in a stand of 68 - the first fifty-plus partnership for the first wicket for England in the present series. The previous highest was 47 between the same pair at Manchester.
# Root and Trott were associated in a partnership of 50. For the first time in the present series, the top two wickets for England have produced fifty-plus stands.
# Trott and Pietersen have shared a stand of 58 for the third wicket. For the first time in the Ashes 2013, the top three wickets have recorded fifty-plus partnerships.
