Test opener Taufeeq Umar, another Pakistani rebel from the unauthorized Indian Cricket League, has resigned from the ICL and submitted his NOC to the Cricket Board here in a bid to play for the national team again.

Test opener Taufeeq Umar said that he had resigned from the ICL and submitted his NOC with the PCB chief operating officer, Wasim Bari.

"It was serving no purpose remaining contracted to the ICL since they are having no tournaments and there appears to be no likelihood this will happen," Taufeeq said.

"I just feel that there is still lot of cricket left in me and I have scored lot of runs in domestic cricket so I have a fair chance of getting a nod from the selectors to play for Pakistan again," he added.

Taufeeq is the sixth ICL rebel after Muhammad Yousuf, Abdul Razzaq, Rana Naved, Imran Nazir, Imran Farhat to have left the league and submitted NOC's with the board to get a chance to play for their country again.

The other five have all already been picked to play for Pakistan in various formats of the sport since June this year with Yousuf, Razzaq, Farhat, Rana Naved currently touring Abu Dhabi and Dubai for the series against New Zealand.

Taufeeq said that many of the Pakistani players who signed up for the rebel league in 2007 were still waiting for clearance of their outstanding dues.
