India have set a target of 166 runs for England in the one-off T20 match at Old Trafford, on Wednesday.
The visitors made an emphatic start after winning the toss and opting to bat first. Ajinkya Rahane made his debut on an aggressive note as he surprised the England bowlers with some power-hitting. This especially after a rather tame opposition that they had to face in the recently concluded Test series.
Rahane smashed eight boundaries in his innings of 61 as he partnered Parthiv Patel for a 39-run opening stand. Jade Dernback struck to break the partnership when he got rid of Patel.
Rahul Draivd entered to make his T20 debut and whacked three consecutive sixes to pulversize the hosts. He was eventually removed by Ravi Bopara on 31 and Stuart Broad sneaked in with two quick wickets.
Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni though combined well towards the end only for India be bowled out on 165 in the final over, with 2 balls to spare.
