Kochi:

Temperamental pacer S Sreesanth on Wednesday said he was contemplating of playing for another state in this year's Ranji Trophy after the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) had ignored him for the captain's post.

KCA had recently named all-rounder Raiphy Vincent Gomes as Kerela captain for the upcoming domestic season and selected 25 probables for the team, including Sreesanth.

"In the last season, I had led the state in one match.

Though I have not taken a final decision, I might opt to play for another state in the coming season," Sreesanth said.

"I want to play more cricket so that I could do well and get into team India," he said.

Terming Sreesanth's reaction as 'emotional', KCA secretary T C Mathew said that the probables were selected by a five-member selection committee, who were all former Ranji players.

"Captaincy is not demanded by any players. If Sreesanth has decided to play for another state, then he will have to obtain NOC (no objection certificate) from Kerala Cricket Association. Once application is given for NOC, the KCA's central council will discuss and take a decision on it," he said.

Out of the Indian Test team for a while now, Sreesanth said he is eager to make a comeback and is working hard on his fitness in the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.

"I am working very hard and I want to play for the country. I am really hoping to make a comeback into the Indian team," he said.

Sreesanth, who plays for Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League, said the Twenty20 tournament is a great learning platform for the young brigade.

"IPL has given more opportunities to youngsters," he said.
