Sporting Cricket Club lifted the 43rd all-India Goswami Ganesh Dutt Trophy beating Indo Asia in the final at Feroz Shah Kotla on Sunday. This tournament is recognised by the Delhi and District Cricket Association as a premier summer tournament.
Medium-pacer Rohit Saini (3 for 36) and left-arm spinner Yogesh Kumar (3 for 31) helped Sporting win by 9 runs in a tall-scoring 40-overs-a-side match. After being put into bat, Sporting scored 242 for 9, thanks to Rahul Tyagi's 72 not out.
Man of the Match Tyagi was well supported by Rohan Rathi, who scored 51 off 31 deliveries. Left-arm spinner Ashwani Gupta took four wickets for 40 runs for Indo Asia.
Indo Asia rode fine knocks from Arjun Gupta (56 off 72 balls) and Man of the Tournament Deepak Sharma (40 off 54 balls) but fell short of their target as Saini and Kumar struck crucial blows. Needing 23 runs in the last two overs, Indo Asia managed all off 11 runs and were all out for 233 runs in 39.4 overs.
