New Delhi:
According to sources, Sachin Tendulkar will be asked if he wants the captaincy- his third stint as captain.
The last stint had ended in 2000 with him saying that it was affecting his batting.
M S Dhoni an obvious front runner is already the one day vice captain and is the captain of the 20-20 World Cup.
Sources say that he could be offered the one-day captaincy with Sachin as test captain.
"Rahul has led the team in a great way in the last two years, everyone knows what kind of a person he is, he must have thought several times before doing this and we respect his decision.
"I told the boys not to think about it so much, as we had a crucial clash against Pakistan and it was really important for us to get into the next round. We couldn't do that in the World Cup," said Dhoni.
Sourav Ganguly, India's most successful captain of all time was asked to stand down in 2005. He has since made a comeback in the team but has maintained that his days of captaincy are over.
