Durban:
Nel was accused of using abusive language during a match between his team Highveld Lions and Natal Dolphins here last Sunday. He was found guilty under CSA's Rules and Code of Conduct in a hearing in Johannesburg on Thursday.
"Participants shall not use crude or abusive language nor make offensive gestures to any other participant, official or spectator. Participants shall not engage in unbecoming or detrimental conduct which could bring them, the Board or the game of cricket into disrepute," the CSA said in a statement. Nel was reported by CSA General Manager for Cricket Operations Brian Basson.
"Due to Nel receiving a two-match suspended sentence on 20 January 2009, for a similar offence, the sentence now becomes effective, and thus, is ineligible to participate in three SuperSport Series fixtures following his appeal in the first case that was dismissed by Judge Mervyn King on Tuesday," the CSA statement read.
"In addition, he will be ineligible for selection for the remaining two SuperSport Series matches for the season, and his team's first fixture of the 2009/10 season in the event of his being found guilty of any similar contravention of the Code in that time," it added.
