Smith, Kallis in South Africa's best-ever Test XI

Captain Graeme Smith and all-rounder Jacques Kallis were the two current players who made it to the all-time South African Test XI chosen by Cricinfo.

Captain Graeme Smith and all-rounder Jacques Kallis were the two current players who made it to the all-time South African Test XI chosen by cricket website Cricinfo.

The website asked former player and cricket boss Ali Bacher, sports writers Luke Alfred, Colin Bryden, Archie Henderson, Rob Houwing, Neil Manthorpe and Telford Vice, international umpire Rudi Koertzen, cricket historian Krish Reddy and statistician Andrew Samson to choose their best sides.

The best-ever South African Test XI was chosen from the most common players on the lists selected by the participants. Graeme Pollock, Barry Richards, Allan Donald and Dudley Nourse were unanimous choices of all the participants. Kallis was not chosen only by Koertzen.

The all-time South Africa Test XI: Barry Richards, Graeme Smith, Jacques Kallis, Graeme Pollock, Dudley Nourse, Aubrey Faulkner, Shaun Pollock, Mike Proctor, John Waite, Hugh Tayfield and Allan Donald.
