Simon Taufel Steps Down as International Cricket Council Umpires Manager
Simon Taufel, who retired from the International Cricket Council Elite Panel of umpires after the World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka in 2012, was named Umpire of the Year for five years in-a-row from 2004 to 2008.

Australia's Simon Taufel has resigned as the International Cricket Council umpires performance and training manager and will work till the end of October. Taufel was named Umpire of the Year for five years in-a-row from 2004 to 2008. Taufel had officiated in 74 Tests, 174 ODI and 34 T20Is. (Click here for latest Cricket stories)
"The ICC can confirm that Simon Taufel has resigned from his position as ICC Umpire Performance & Training Manager. However, the ICC is in negotiation with Mr Taufel with regards to a possible alternate role in the organisation and an announcement will be made in due course," an ICC spokesperson said.
The 44-year-old umpire, who had quit the Elite Panel of umpires after the World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka in 2012, has also played a key role in the development of Indian umpires. He was also a consultant with the BCCI's Umpires Academy in Nagpur.
Meanwhile, Taufel has been appointed to officiate matches in Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne's All Stars Series in the United States. His former Australian umpiring colleague Steve Davis and South African Marais Erasmus have also been appointed umpires for the three-match T20 exhibition tour. The matches will be played in New York (November 7), Houston (November 11) and Los Angeles (November 14).
