"I suppose he had to get those runs off someone. That he got it off me puts me in the record book I guess," said the bustling right-arm pacer who made his Test debut today as replacement for injured Australian pacer Stuart Clark.
Siddle had a pretty eventful start to his Test career as his first delivery whacked Gautam Gambhir on his helmet before conceding those historic three runs to Tendulkar and eventually getting the prized scalp of the batting maestro.
"To get him out was a great feeling. I mean I would be happy to get anyone for the first wicket but getting Sachin as the first wicket is always a privilege," said the burly Victorian.
Incidentally, Cameron White, who earned his first Test cap in Bangalore also got the master blaster there as his first Test scalp.
"Hopefully we'll get lot of more such dismissals," Siddle said.
On the ball that hit Gambhir on his helmet, Siddle said, "The wicket wasn't too bad and there was opportunity to bowl those balls early on. So I took the chance and thought I should go out and see how I do. That's not a bad first delivery I guess."
Australian pace department had a forgettable morning session with Gambhir putting on 70 runs in 14-odd overs with Virender Sehwag before adding another 76 with Rahul Dravid.
"We tried to hit the top of off-stump and I think we finished off well. Initially, we bowled lose, didn't bowl to the field and sprayed a lot. But I think we came back well with the new ball and got some wickets there which was pretty handy. They were nearly 150 for one at that stage.
"If we can get couple of early wickets tomorrow, we would go from there," Siddle said.
He attributed his not-so-impressive first spell to butterflies and said, "It was a massive step-up and a good challenge. I struggled a bit initially because I was nervous of playing against some top players and also because I was representing Australia.
"But in my second spell, I was more relaxed and comfortable and found my rhythm," he said.
