Sehwag will fight his way back into team: Hayden

Virender Sehwag might have been shown the door from the Indian team for the third and fourth Test against Australia, but his fans are in no way distancing themselves from him.

One of his many admirers and former Australian opening batsman Matthew Hayden still backs the woefully out-of-form Indian batsman to return to the side.

"He may be out of form, but as they say 'form is temporary, class is permanent' and I believe Sehwag is in that list. I will be very surprised if Sehwag does not work his way back into the side," Hayden told NDTV on Thursday in Mumbai.

Sehwag has managed just one hundred in Test cricket in the last two years. He averages a poor 36 at home in this period, almost 15 less than his career average of almost 50. The 35-year-old in his last 9 innings, has failed to score a fifty. Those numbers suggest that his axing was inevitable.

Hayden, however, feels that in sport and selection hard decisions need to be taken sometimes, "MS Dhoni is one captain who believes in his players. Sometimes, though one needs to take hard decisions. Having said that, Sehwag is one of those players I would love to pay to see him playing."

Matthew Hayden, who also seen as a TV commentator during the Hyderabad Test, is in Mumbai as a tourism ambassador and feels Mumbai is a great place to be.
