It starts from outside off and it tails back in. Denly ends up playing outside the line. The ball hits the back pad. A huge appeal follows and the umpire has his finger up immediately. 12 OUT! Three reds and Root has been given his marching orders! Ireland all over England at the moment. Root, England's main batter, is walking back without making a lot of impact. Excellent use of the review by the Irish. Adair has his second now. This is on off and on a length. It jags back in. Root misses the ball as he tries to defend and gets his on the pads. A huge appeal follows but the umpire shakes his head. The Ireland players can't believe it. Their skipper though has a doubt whether there is an inside edge. Second wicket in the over for Murtagh and 4th overall. He is breathing fire at the moment. Once again it is the movement off the pitch which gets the better of the batter. It pitches on off and then jags back in sharply. Woakes like a few other English batter, ends up playing outside the line. The ball hits him high on the back pad. An appeal follows and the finger is up. An appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Woakes reviews. Replays roll and they show that the ball is clipping the top of middle. Porterfield looks to pull but the ball hits the higher portion of the bat and lobs towards the man in front of square. Leach makes no mistake. Porterfield walks back disappointed and rightly so. It was not a great delivery. He was looking really good until then. Ireland trail by another 53 runs.  32/1

18.4 OUT! Plays it on! Sam Curran gets another one. Excellent bowling from him. He comes around the wicket and lands this around off, it is angling into McCollum. He looks to drive it against the angle and that proves to be his downfall. He ends up getting an inside edge which shatters the stumps behind. Ireland still 41 runs behind.  45/2

36.1 OUT! Bowled! First wicket for Stone in Test cricket and what a beauty it is! Full and pacy, it pitches on middle and leg. Balbirnie expects it to come in but the ball moves away just a bit after pitching. Balbirnie plays all over it and it goes onto hit the middle stump. Stirling looks to defend but gets beaten by the inward movement. The ball hits him flush on the front pads. Broad starts celebrating and then turns back to see the umpire's reaction. Aleem Dar agrees with Broad and raises his finger. Stirling has a chat with his partner and then takes it upstairs. After peppering him with a few short balls, Stone hits the deck hard on this one on off, Wilson goes chasing after it but ends up getting a thick outside edge, It goes straight to Joe Root at first slip who takes an easy catch. Broad bowls it full around off, Thompson shoulders arms to it expecting it to go away after pitching. The ball though comes in with the angle and goes onto disturb the off pole. Thompson would be disappointed looking at that and he will be reminded about this wicket for sometime now.  141/6

45.4 OUT! Caught! No hundred for Jack Leach either. Finally Ireland manage to take Leach's catch. Murtagh gets his first of the innings. Good length ball around off, it moves away after pitching. Leach has a poke at it but gets a thick outside edge. The ball goes straight to Adair at second slip. He makes no mistake this time and takes a very simple catch. End of a brilliant knock from Leach. What a knock this has been from Leach! He came out as a night watchman but he has done his job as a proper batsman. He walks out to a well-deserved standing ovation. England lead by 60 here but they have lost 3 wickets.  182/3

10.4 OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! The bowling change works wonders for Ireland. Boyd Rankin strikes in his first over itself, just like he did in the first innings. He gets one full and nicks the batter off. However, the shot might not have been needed there. This is on a length and outside off, Burns could have left it but he pokes at it. An outside edge is induced and it goes into the mitts of the keeper. First breakthrough for Ireland. England still 96 away.  26/1

40.3 OUT! Bowled! No debut hundred for Roy. Thompson comes steaming in and bowls a beautiful inswinging ball. It is full and pitching on off. Roy looks to drive it on the up but misreads the swing on it. There is a big gap between the bat and pad and the ball goes through that gap to disturb the stumps. 145-run stand comes to an end. England lead by 49. Ireland needed some inspiration and this wicket might just bring them that. Much needed wicket for the visitors.  171/2

52.2 OUT! RUN OUT! Ireland are back in the game! From 171 for 1, England are now 194 for 4. Denly, who has been short of runs has been run out. Surely that is the last way he would have wanted to be dismissed and surely it is the last thing England would have wanted. England are effectively 72 for 4. This is on off, Root works it towards mid-wicket and calls for a run but then throws Denly the dummy who is halfway down the track. Too difficult for Denly to get back now. He does try but Kevin picks the ball up and throws it to the bowler who whips the bails off. Denly is way short. He walks back disappointed and Ireland are elated.  194/4

65.2 OUT! There goes Joe Root! The dropped catch has not cost a lot. Adair who has been Ireland's best bowler today, has got the big fish. An excellent catch too by Wilson. Also, that wicket means, the last recognized batsman is out of here. 150 now looks difficult. Root takes a few steps ahead and Adair bowls it just ahead of a length and around off. It shapes away. Root looks to drive but the length is not quite there. The outside edge is induced and it goes towards first slip. Wilson dives and takes it. England are effectively 117 for 6.  239/7

54 OUT! Umpire's call it is. Bairstow grabs a pair in this innings. Just like in the first innings, it is the inswinging ball which has outdone him. It is pitching around off and comes back in after pitching.Bairstow looks to defend but plays all over it. The Irish players put a loud and confident appeal. Aleem Dar agrees with him. Bairstow takes it upstairs straightaway. Replays roll in, Ultra Edge shows no involvement of bat. Ball Tracker rolls in later on and shows that the ball was clipping the top of middle and leg. Not the start to the Test summer Bairstow would have wanted. Maybe the gruesome World Cup campaign has taken it's toll on him. England lead by 72, meaning they are half the side down under 100 here.  194/5

60.4 OUT! Caught behind! Moeen Ali cannot do much as he too walks back. Rankin bangs it in short. It comes in with the angle, the ball also keeps rising onto him. Moeen has a poke at it and ends up getting a feather on it. It goes straight to Gary Wilson who takes a simple catch. England are technically 6 down for 97. Moeen Ali's poor run of form continues. Ireland have comeback into this match like a raging bull.  219/6

67.5 OUT! Another one bites the dust! England are 8 down now. Their dressing room just can't believe what is happening. Adair gets his third. Once again Woakes flashes at a ball which was not there to be hit. It is just behind a driving length outside off. Woakes goes after it but the ball hits the outside edge and goes low towards second slip. Balbirnie takes a good catch. Woakes is disgusted as he walks back and Ireland are delighted. England are effectively 126 for 8.  248/8

74 OUT! In the air... taken! End of the entertainment as Curran walks back but not after he has played a very good hand. England are nine down and they lead by 171. This is short and on middle, Curran looks to pull but does not get on top of the bounce. It goes off the top edge towards deep square leg where McCollum takes a good catch.  293/9

77.5 OUT! Bowled! England are bowled out in the first ball off the day! Thompson steams in and bowls a full, inswinging ball on off. It comes back in, Stone looks to drive straight but the ball goes between the gap of bat and pad. It goes onto to demolish the leg pole. England bowled out for 303. Ireland need 182 to win.  303/10

4 OUT! Brilliant catch from Bairstow! Woakes corrects his line and pitches it on off and middle. Chris finally manages to move the ball off the deck. Porterfield looks to defend but the away movement sees the ball kiss his outside edge. It goes low to the left of Bairstow behind the stumps. Jonny dives to that side quickly and takes a good low catch. This is the thing with Woakes, if he gets a ball right it usually ends up being converted into a wicket. Ireland have lost their skipper early here. This Test match is evenly poised here.  11/1

9.1 OUT! Caught! Third wicket for Woakes! He was not getting much movement in the start but now he is making the ball do the talking here. It is on the channel of uncertainty, i.e. very close to the off pole. McCollum too falls for the trap and goes for a push. He ends up getting a thick outside edge. The ball flies to first slip. Root there takes it with relative ease.  24/4

7 OUT! Caught! This is champion stuff from Broad. Bowls two short ones to Balbirnie and now bowls a brilliant good length ball. It is pitched on off and moves away. It is perfectly in the line of uncertainty. Balbirnie was in two minds, whether to leave or defend. He goes with the latter option and ends up getting a thick outside edge. It goes straight to Root at first slip who takes a very comfortable catch. Big wicket for England as Balbirnie was the best batter in the first innings.  18/2

7.3 OUT! Bowled! Stirling goes for a duck. This is just world class from Woakes. The last ball was slightly short and moved away. This time he bowls it full and nips it back in. It is pitched around off and comes in, Stirling looks to play it straight but leaves a massive gap between bat and pad. The ball goes right through that gate and disturbs the stumps. Ireland have their back against the wall now. England needed early wickets they have got 3 here.  19/3

10.1 OUT! Ireland are falling like a pack of cards! Broad gets his second and probably Ireland's last hope, Kevin O'Brien is walking back. Stuart lands it on a length and around off, it jags back in sharply. Kevin O'Brien looks to play at it by staying rooted to his crease. He misses and the ball hits the pads. Broad is already celebrating as he starts appealing and the umpire raises the finger. Kevin O'Brien does not review and rightly so as Hawk Eye shows three reds. England just 4 wickets away now. 9.3 OUT! England manage to overturn the on field umpire's call. Half the side back in the hut for Ireland. Woakes bowls it full and this one comes in to the right-hander. Wilson is done for the pace and swing here. He looks to defend but misses. The ball hits him on his back pad and the English players put in a huge appeal. The umpire though does not agree with him. England players are pretty sure they have their man. Root signals the T. Replays roll in, Ultra Edge shows no involvement of the bat. Ball Tracker rolls in next and it shows three reds. The umpire will have to change his decision and Wilson too is out of here.  24/5

13.5 OUT! Caught! 5-fer for Woakes and he goes into the honors board at the Home of Cricket. It is pitched on off and the ball goes with the angle, Thompson goes chasing after it with his drive. He gets nothing but a fat outside edge. The ball goes to the right of Root. The English Test skipper moves to that side swiftly and takes his 3rd catch of the game. Woakes takes the ball, raises it up and soaks in all the applause. He now technically becomes the first Englishman to take a 5-fer against Ireland.  36/8

It is around off and nips back in, Adair looks to drive but just like the previous batsmen before him he too leaves a big gap between bat and pad.
