Left-handed Stuart Thompson made his first-class debut in 2012 against Afghanistan and was soon fast-tracked into Ireland’s T20I side ahead of the World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka.
The youngster was a revelation to the selectors when he scored a composed knock of 67 to help Ireland beat Uganda in the Under-19 World Cup Qualifying tournament. Stuart’s father, Nigel also played for Ireland.
