Sami faces probe for drunken brawl

Pakistan pacer Muhammad Sami is facing an investigation by the Karachi City Cricket association for a drunken brawl in the team hotel during the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match in Rawalpindi.

Siraj-ul-Islam Bukhari, President of the biggest cricket association in Pakistan, said that the manager of the Karachi blues team had reported the incident.

"We have asked for a detailed report and will then decide on our next course of action," Bukhari said.

Sami, 29, who has played 34 Tests and 83 one-day internationals was alleged to have brawled with a fellow teammate, Atif Maqbool while in a drunken state at the team hotel last night.

He also damaged furniture of the hotel whose management has also lodged a complaint with the team officials for recovery of damages.

Sami, who has been in and out of the Pakistan team, however, said that while it was true he had a brawl with a fellow player over an issue but denied he was drunk.

"No I was under no state of intoxication," he said.

Bukhari said that if the player was found guilty of the charges against him he could face ban for some matches and a heavy fine.
