In what would come more as a relief than a pleasant surprise to cricket fans in India, Sachin Tendulkar returned to training on Friday. A national daily reported that the star trained at the Bandra Kurla Complex and the Mumbai Recreation Center here.
Tendulkar had suffered a toe-injury on the England tour and has been out of action since. He also reportedly consulted a specialist in London for special shoes to give his feet added protection. (Suggested read: Sachin and his specially designed shoes)
After even missing the recently concluded Champions League T20, a return to training augers well for the national team which registered it's first win since the tour of West Indies, against England in the first ODI, at Hyderabad.
Tendulkar is among several stars of the national team who are recuperating from injuries and strains. Virender Sehwag is recovering from two surgeries on his shoulder while Zaheer Khan and Yuvraj Singh are out with strains. (In pics: Injuries that have plagued India recently)
Sehwag expects to make a comeback in the home series against West Indies in November and Tendulkar too, would be aiming at the same series although none of the players currently out of the national team, are rushing their treatment and recovery. The Indian team however, seems to be enjoying the services of youngsters as Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin took 6 wickets between them against England while Virat Kohli played a responsible knock too.
