Karachi:
"Most probably Khalid Latif will come in for Yousuf when and if he announces he has joined ICL and obviously he is no longer eligible to play for Pakistan while Jamshed will undergo a fitness test in the conditioning camp in Karachi before he can travel to Abu Dhabi," Pakistan coach Intikhab Alam said.
Besides Khurrum Manzoor may replace opener Nasir Jamshed squad that will play three one-dayers against the West Indies in Abu Dhabi from November 12.
Jamshed is still to make a complete recovery from a bout of Malaria.
Jamshed, a left handed opener, was a surprise selection as he has been suffering from Malaria and has not played in the Pentangular first class tournament.
The Pakistan Cricket Board had said that the selection for the Abu Dhabi series would be made on the basis of a player's performance in the Pentangular tournament.
"Which is why, I find it surprising they should pick Jamshed although there is a big uncertainty over his fitness as it takes a while for anyone to recover completely from Malaria and he was not even picked for the Toronto Twenty20 tournament last month," a former Test player said.
Intikhab said Jamshed underwent a fitness test yesterday in Lahore under the supervision of the team trainer David Dwyer and doctor Sohail Ahmed and he had collapsed.
"He will have another fitness test in the camp around November 8 or 9 and if he is not fit he will be replaced in the squad," the Pakistan coach said.
Chief selector Saleem Jaffer said he was awaiting a word from the PCB before deciding on Yousuf's replacement.
"We are waiting from final confirmation from the board on Yousuf and what he plans to do," Jaffer said, while admitting that Yousuf's decision came as a surprise.
A teammate of Yousuf said the batsman has given no indication to anyone of what he was planning to do.
Both Latif and Manzoor played one-day internationals for Pakistan this year.
