Persistent rain forced the second one-day international between New Zealand and Pakistan to be abandoned without a ball being bowled in Napier.

Umpires Bruce Oxenford and Billy Bowden waited more than four hours for the weather to clear. Three inspections took place between 04:30 PM local time till 6:30 PM local time as the officials tried to squeeze in a Twenty20 game.
But when the rain finally stopped there was no sun to dry the waterlogged outfield. The final cut-off time was 07:15 PM local for aTwenty20 game but the outfield could not be cleared in time and the match was abandoned.
New Zealand won the first ODI in Wellington on Monday by 70 runs with the third and final match set for Auckland on Sunday.
