Karachi:
The PCB is apparently upset over the fact that Younus has yet to contact them regarding his case after the appellate tribunal of the board lifted ban from him in June.
"Younus has not bothered to contact us at all over his case and if he does not talk to us then we will have to issue a fresh show cause notice to him as the appellate tribunal has said the case has to be disposed off," PCB legal advisor, Tafazzul Rizvi said.
He said that though the appellate tribunal had removed the ban from Younus that was imposed in March after the Australian tour, it had also stated that the board must resolve the issue at the earliest or issue a fresh notice to Younus if they felt he was guilty of misconduct.
"The appellate tribunal had removed the ban because it felt the procedure adopted to impose it was not correct," Rizvi said.
He also made it clear that if Younus felt he was being wronged and the ban was not justified then he should approach the court of law for redressal but he needed to sort out the issue with the board.
Rizvi also said that apart from this issue, the board has every plan to issue a notice to the lawyer of Younus for making non-parliamentary remarks against the board and criticising it.
"Ahmed Qayyum will be asked to explain his remarks and statements in the media over the case," Rizvi said.
Insiders said that with the national team performing poorly in England and the board facing regular criticism from all quarters for its decision to not select Younus Khan for the tour, the board was now desperate to mend fences with the former captain.
"There is still lot of cricket left to be played in England and they are other test series coming up as well this year so the board now wants to see Younus back in the team but it can't make any announcements until he meets with the Chairman to sort out the issue," a source said.
Younus since returning from England last month has avoided speaking to the media and kept a low profile.
Sources close to him said he was in no mood to make any contacts or apologies to the board to get back into the team.
"He feels he was wronged and if the board wants him back they should just select him without any conditions like in the case of Muhammad Yousuf," the source stated.
