PCB, Miandad on confrontation mode over selection issues
Javed Miandad and the PCB seem to be headed for another major confrontation over the selection of the 17-member squad for the tour to England.

Former captain Javed Miandad and the Pakistan Cricket Board seem to be headed for another major confrontation over the selection of the 17-member squad for the tour to England.
The selection of the squad for the England tour has become a contentious issue with the board issuing explanation letters to Miandad, who is also Director-General cricket affairs in the PCB, and his nephew Faisal Iqbal for giving statements against the selectors and the board after Faisal was not picked in the touring squad.
Miandad has also criticised the selectors and board for ignoring other deserving players like former captain, Younus Khan, Sarfraz Ahmed and Muhammad Sami.
Miandad appears unrepentant over his remarks despite the letter issued to him to explain his remarks in the media.
"I don't need anyone to tell me about the code of conduct I have to follow, I am well aware of the code of conduct of the board," Miandad said.
"Being a former captain and being put incharge of cricket matters in the board, I have every right to give my opinion if the selectors or board does not make proper selections for the England tour, no one can stop me from speaking out in interest of Pakistan cricket," Miandad, a veteran of 124 Tests, said.
He said he would speak to PCB Chairman Ejaz Butt over the selection of the team after returning home from abroad.
"I am a Pakistani and I have every right to talk about selection matters. The selectors have picked so many new players and some undeserving and if the team does not do well in England then who should be held responsible," he said.
PCB's chief operating officer Wasim Bari while issuing the letter to Miandad has said that no employee of the board can give contentious statements against other employees of the board or the board policies.
In the past also Miandad has had differences with Butt and had resigned in protest over not being given proper authority but then made a comeback to the board on government pressure.
Butt was reluctant to accept him back but he was forced to follow directives from the top as he himself is a political appointee.
