Chittagong:
England fast bowler Graham Onions will miss the first Test against Bangladesh starting on Friday after hurting his back in practice on Wednesday.
The good news was that seamer Stuart Broad bowled 10 overs during net practice without feeling any back problem. He will undergo a final fitness test on Thursday.
Broad injured his back during the one-day international series against Bangladesh, and was not available for England's three-day warm-up against Bangladesh A.
Bangladesh omitted Mohammad Ashraful, its most capped player, from the two-Test series because of a lack of form. Ashraful scored only 1 and 30 as captain of Bangladesh A.
The 26-Test fast bowler Shahadat Hossain, who played in last month's Test against New Zealand, was also dropped on form.
Bangladesh's likely lineup for the first Test: Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Junaed Siddique, Aftab Ahmed, Rakibul Hasan, Shakib Al Hasan (captain), Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Abdur Razzak, Shafiul Islam, Rubel Hossain.
"We will field the best team we have," Bangladesh coach Jamie Siddons said.
