Pranav Dhanawade Gets Mumbai Cricket Association Scholarship

"I am really happy to have broken the record of big players like Sachin (Tendulkar), (Vinod) Kambli, Armaan Jaffer.

"I am feeling very proud that the Maharashtra Government will support by cricket coaching and education," added the youngster.

The student of KC Gandhi Higher Secondary school in Kalyan batted for 395 minutes in the two-day game against Arya Gurukul in the MCA conducted Bhandari Cup inter-school cricket tournament to remain unbeaten off 323 balls, which included 59 sixes and 129 fours.

Dhanawade now holds the record for the highest individual score in any form of cricket, bettering Arthur Collins' 628 not out for Clark's House against North Town in 1899.

Collins was an Englishman born in India, but never went on to play first-class cricket. Australian Charles Eady scored 566 in 1901.

Prithvi Shaw (546 in 2013) of Mumbai school earlier held the Indian record when he bettered Armaan Jaffer's 473, scored in a Harris Shield match in 2013. Armaan is the nephew of former Test batsman Wasim Jaffer.
