His father may be cricket's biggest superstar but Arjun Tendulkar is keen to make his own name. Of course, a little bit of help from legendary Wasim Akram can go a long way in his quest for greatness.
The former Pakistan speedster spent some time with Sachin Tendulkar's son recently and observed that Arjun is an enthusiastic learner. "He is a 15-year-old who is like any other kid in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh or Sri Lanka -he's very enthusiastic about his cricket," Akram told NDTV on Tuesday. "He is a left-arm medium pacer and I gave him some tips on the game."
So, what 'secrets' did Akram share with the budding talent. "I told him a little bit about fitness, on wrist positioning and I explained to him how to bring the ball back onto the right-hander," revealed the 48-year-old who claimed over 900 wickets in an international career spanning 18 years. "He had a lot of questions for him and is very passionate about the game, and that is always a good sign."
Akram was with Arjun at the Wankhede Stadium recently but it was not their first meeting. The two played in an exhibition match in England last summer when Arjun is believed to have dismissed Brian Lara.
