The Indian Team will travel to Bangladesh with a new Test and an One Day International captain. Indian stars Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni along with a few others might request the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to hand them a 'break' after a long and tiring cricket season.(India Squad to be Selected on May 20)
According to reports, Kohli has already put in a word to BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur about taking a break once the Indian Premier League comes to an end.
Former Indian opener and NDTV expert Sunil Gavaskar empathised with Kohli and said, "I understand likes of Kohli wanting rest. He can perhaps play the Test."
Kohli replaced Dhoni as the full-time Test captain for India after the long-standing Indian skipper decided to pull curtains on his Test career the Boxing Day Test match against Australia at the MCG last year. Kohli also captained India in the first Test of the Australian series at Adelaide.
Not only Kohli, a few more of the experienced cricketers including Dhoni might opt out of the series owing to fatigue.
It will be interesting to see who leads India during the series in the absence of both Dhoni and Kohli. Suresh Raina emerges as a strong contender for the ODI captaincy but in the Test, it might be a toss-up between Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane.
India play a lone Test and three ODIs in Bangladesh. This is their first international outing since the ICC World Cup where they finished as semifinalists.
