Darwin, Australia:

Shane Watson, the Australian vice-captain, urged the team to put their disappointing loss against England behind them and focus on the forthcoming tours. The Australian cricketers are currently at a preparatory camp in Darwin for the upcoming limited-overs series against Pakistan in United Arab Emirates, comprising three One-Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals.

Australia were routed 0-4 by England in their ODI series in July, and Watson is looking at the ongoing camp as a chance to reassess and regroup ahead of the upcoming series. "Obviously we're very disappointed about the result in England in the one-day series," said Watson. "Now's the time to really regroup and spend the time working on the deficiencies we've got as individuals and within the team."

The UAE tour is followed by the World T20 in Sri Lanka, tours against South Africa and Sri Lanka and then a Test series in India. Watson views the chance for Australia to play strong nations as an ideal way to prepare for the 2013 Ashes in England. "It's a perfect lead-in really to be able to get ourselves in a great position as a team. Hopefully everything can come together in the summer as a great launching pad into the Ashes next year," said Watson.

As for the calf injury that cut short his tour of England, Watson said he was well on the road to making a full recovery. "Over the next few days I'll be back into the full swing of things," said Watson. "It's been a pretty frustrating time but I'm continuing to adapt what I'm doing and slightly change what I'm doing to stay fit for a period of time. By the end of the camp I should be up to full capacity."

Watson has been rested for the ODIs against Pakistan, but will join the team for the T20s.
