Ex-leggie Narendra Hirwani may be Team India's spin doctor
The BCCI is looking to appoint the spin bowling coach before the upcoming Australia Test series. R Ashwin and Pragyan Ojha are the current Test spinners in the frame while Harbhajan Singh, Amit Mishra, Piyush Chawla remain in contention. Indian spin bowling has been on the decline for a while now.
BCCI is zeroing in on one of its former spinners to be the spin bowling coach for Team India.
NDTV has learnt that former Indian leg-spinner Narendra Hirwani is the front runner for the post for which former left-arm tweaker Maninder Singh is also being touted as an option.

Hirwani who was a selector from Central Zone until the current selection committee took over, became an instant star with 16 wickets on Test debut against West Indies in 1988. He went on to play 17 Tests and took 66 wickets.
Maninder on the other hand played 35 Tests and got 88 wickets.
