Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Anil Kumble said Mumbai Indians completely outplayed the home team in their final league encounter of IPL 3 here on Saturday.

Kumble credited Mumbai Indians for their all-round show at the M Chinnaswamy stadium here and said Bangalore, which has more or less qualified for the semifinals with 14 points and a plus 0.219 net run rate, has learnt a lesson or two from Saturday's 57-run loss.

"We got to give it to them for scoring a big win. They certainly outplayed us in all departments of the game," Kumble said at the post-match press conference.

"We started off well but dropped catches in the field. In the chase we got stuck in the first six overs which made things very difficult for us," he said.

"Our strategy was to win. We never thought about the run-rate and the match started slipping away from us. We wanted to get close to Mumbai's target. We have learnt a lesson from this defeat but the 14 games we have played so far will hold us in good stead in the semifinals," the leg-spinner added.

Kumble said being a native of Bangalore it was his duty to lift the morale of other players after a light intensity explosion took place just outside the ground 45 minutes before the start of the match.

"We heard a noise. We were told to be careful. The security guys told us that they will check and let us know about the situation. No player opted to step out of the game and all were ready to play. Bangalore being my home town, I had to lift up their (players) morale," he said.
