New Delhi:
Kings XI Punjab on Tuesday threw its weight behind Luke Pomersbach, who has been suspended by Western Australia for allegedly assaulting a policeman. Kings XI Punjab promoter Ness Wadia said Pomersbach was a key member of the Indian Premier League outfit and he was hoping that the row would be resolved soon.
"Luke Pomersbach is an integral part of the Kings XI Punjab team and we are concerned for his well being. The team hopes that the matter will be resolved quickly," Wadia said.
According to police officials in Perth, Pomersbach crashed his car, ran away from police, resisted arrest and eventually assaulted an officer in City Beach.
West Australian Cricket Association summarily suspended the cricketer. Incidentally, Pomersbach has been suspended once each in the last three seasons for various misdemeanours.
