New Delhi:

The Indian Cricket Board has been stunned by the IPL Disciplinary Committee, formed to probe the case of Former Commissioner Lalit Modi, after it refused to go ahead with the hearing.

It has also deferred all further hearing and cross examination of all witnesses of BCCI till the time the serious questions on the jurisdiction of the committee are resolved.

The counsels for Modi had filed an application stating therein that in the Annual General Meeting the BCCI has neither appointed any Disciplinary Committee nor continued the term of the present Disciplinary Committee.

In its reply, the BCCI admitted that no Disciplinary Committee has been appointed. According to the BCCI rules and regulations, a Disciplinary Committee has to be appointed in every AGM. The term of the earlier Disciplinary Committee expired in September.

In view of the seriousness of the situation the Disciplinary Committee has adjourned the matter for December 13 and 14 to decide on its own jurisdiction and then will only decide the further course of action.
