21:50 IST: "It's important when you're playing at home [for the crowd to be behind you]. This was one game when we kept losing wickets. That was something that hurt us. It wasn't the run rate which pushed us to play big shots. It's a day when any of the batsmen could go on and say that we could have seen it through. Felt the NZ bowlers bowled well. Weren't able to keep wickets in hand despite the slow wicket. Don't think there was a lot of dew. Still wasn't coming onto the bat. In the coming games, I'll be losing a toss somewhere and then we'll have to bowl well. It was important to get the reverse swing going. Bowled well in the last 20-25 overs to restrict them to 240," says India captain MS Dhoni.
21:45 IST: "It's a good sign to see the bowlers bowling well and putting the Indian batsmen under pressure. I was trying to remain aggressive but give as little as possible in the 49th over. A lot of moisture out there all together, the wicket was holding up a touch, smart bowling, it proved very effective. Looking forward to Mohali," says Trent Boult.

Nothing has gone right for New Zealand in the series so far. After being blanked 3-0 in the Test series, the Kiwis were routed in the first ODI in Dharamsala on October 16. The team is clearly lacking a leader.
The failure of New Zealand’s top batsmen have multiplied the team’s worries. Kane Williamson, Martin Guptill and Ross Taylor have been in wretched form with the bat. The Kiwis have not been able to justify their No. 3 ranking on the ICC ODI table. India are No. 4.
The MS Dhoni-led team has continued the winning momentum that was achieved in the rather one-sided Test series. Even without four regular players like Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Lokesh Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan, India have looked solid.
Hardik Pandya made a Man of the Match debut in Dharamsala and his 3 for 31 with the new ball broke the back of the New Zealand batting. With Suresh Raina yet to recover from viral fever, it is unlikely India will change the combination that won the first ODI.
