Rahul Dravid first No. 3 batsman to score 10,000 runs

Following are the statistical highlights of Day 3 of the third Test between India and England in Birmingham.

# Rahul Dravid became the first batsman to aggregate 10,000 runs as number three batsman.

# England (710/7d) have recorded their highest total against India, obliterating the 653 for four wickets declared at Lord's in 1990.

# England's previous highest at Edgbaston was 633 for five wickets declared against India in July 1979.

# England's 710 for seven wickets declared is their third highest total in Tests, next only to the 903 for 7 wickets declared against Australia at The Oval in 1938 and 849 against West Indies at Kingston in 1929-30

# The aforesaid total is the third highest by a team against India in Tests, next only to the 952/6d by Sri Lanka at Colombo,RPS in 1997 and 760/7d by Sri Lanka at Ahmedabad in 2009-10.  

# Alastair Cook has become the third England batsman to register a double hundred against India at Edgbaston.

# David Lloyd (214 not out in 1974) and David Gower (200 not out in 1979) were the first two batsmen to register double hundreds against India at Edgbaston.

# Cook's magnificent innings is the 50th double century for England in Tests.

# Cook (294) has posted a career-best innings in Tests, bettering the 235 not out against Australia at Brisbane in November 2010. These two innings are his only double hundreds in Tests.

# Wally Hammond holds an English record with seven innings of 200 or more in Tests, followed by four by Len Hutton and 3 by Kevin Pietersen.

# David Gower is the only batsman to register two double hundreds for England at Edgbaston.  Besides Gower and Cook, the other three English players to register double hundreds are - Peter May (285 not out against West Indies in 1957 - a record for the highest individual innings at this venue), David Lloyd and Nasser Hussain.

# Forty five innings of 200 or more have been recorded against England in Tests.

# India conceded 34 leg byes - the most in a Test innings, eclipsing the 31 in England's total of 515 at The Oval in 2002.

# Eoin Morgan (104 off 199 balls) has posted his highest innings against India, bettering the 70 at Trent Bridge last month.

# Morgan's aforesaid innings is the second highest in Tests, next only to the 130 against Pakistan at Nottingham last year. These are his only hundreds in Tests.

# Cook and Morgan put on 222 for the fourth wicket - England's highest for this wicket position against India at Edgbaston, eclipsing the 191 between Boycott and Gower in July 1979.

# England's highest for the fourth wicket against India in England is 266 between Wally Hammond and Stan Worthington at The Oval in 1936.

# Virender Sehwag became the second opener after Bangladesh's Javed Omar (against India at Dhaka in 2007) to register a golden pair in Tests.

# India conceded a lead of 486 - their highest against England - their second highest overall in Tests, next only to 490 conceded to West Indies at Kolkata in 1958-59.

# India conceded 63 extras - a record in India-England Tests. The said tally is India's second worst in a Test innings, next only to the 76 conceded to Pakistan in the 2007-08 Bangalore Test.
