India A began the Tri-Nation A series tournament with an 8-run win over Sri Lanka A, clinching victory from the jaws of defeat. In their second game, India A lost by only 4 runs to Afghanistan A, via DLS method. The third match was the most dramatic of all, as India A suffered defeat to Sri Lanka A in a tense match that went down to a super over. And finally, India A concluded their league stage campaign with a terrific 101-run win over Afghanistan A.

Sri Lanka A hold a significant edge over Afghanistan A in the league standings, and unless they lose by a humongous margin, the hosts will be the ones who qualify for the final. This tournament has witnessed two very close games between India A and SL A, and should they face off in the final, it would make for a spicy contest.

India A suffered defeat via DLS method in the first league stage game against Afghanistan A, but today they've avenged that loss. A big win too, helping Tilak Varma's side book their place in the final of the Tri-Nation A series.

India A entered this match needing to win to keep their final hopes alive, and they've not only won but done so in style. The batters put on a good total, but it was the bowling unit that stepped up and made the game one-sided. Once the partnership between Bahir Shah and Faisal Shinozada was broken, the Afghanistan wickets fell pretty quickly. Some exceptional fielding too.

The 101-run win sees India A leapfrog Sri Lanka A on net-run-rate (NRR) in the league standings, and thereby book a spot in the Tri-Nation A series final. With SL A now behind India A, even a big win by Afghanistan A in their final match would not impact Tilak Varma and co. Here's how the points table stacks up:

VICTORY FOR INDIA A! Another attempted big shot goes wrong, as Zahir Khan departs. Anshul Kamboj completes the catch, despite an initial fumble. Four wickets in the end for Nishant Sindhu, including two in an over to end the game.

Third wicket for Nishant Sindhu! Shams Ur Rahman goes for a front-foot defence, but the ball goes between bat and pad and knocks over his stumps. That's the ninth wicket down. India A are now one wicket away from victory, and likely a place in the final!

Superb catch in the deep! Abdullah Ahmadzai goes for a big shot but Priyansh Arya collects it right on the edge of the boundary rope, cleverly throws it up as he loses balance, and then comes back inside the ground to complete the catch fairly.

A long, long third umpire check to see whether Priyansh's right foot touched the boundary rope, and it appears to be as close as it gets. But ultimately, the third umpire judges it to be out.

GONE, LBW! That's as plumb as it gets. Suryansh Shedge with a lovely inswinger that Farmanullah Safi misjudges completely. He gets trapped on the pads, and the umpire raises his finger immediately. Afghanistan A's run chase falling apart as the seventh wicket goes down.

Sensational catch in the deep! Ashok Sharma at third-man! Short ball from Yash Thakur, Mohammad Ishaq goes for an upper-cut, but substitute fielder Ashok Sharma charges in, covers a lot of ground, and then takes an incredible diving catch. The entire India A team goes over to celebrate with Ashok, he rightly gets the praise from his teammates. 

Afghanistan A are now six wickets down.

Farmanullah Safi goes after Anukul Roy! He slams the penultimate ball of the 31st over through the covers for 4, and then slogs the final ball for a huge 6 over deep mid-wicket! Important boundaries for Afghanistan A, and a clear warning to India A that this match is far from done.

Massive wicket for India A! Faisal Shinozada looks to nudge it towards the on-side off Anukul Roy's bowling, but the leading edge goes straight back to the bowler. The left-arm spinner, who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL, picks up a crucial wicket at a crunch situation. Faisal departs for 46, just 4 short of a half-century.

Bahir Shah and Faisal Shinozada continue their steady partnership. If they're not dealing in boundaries, they're rotating strike regularly. Both batters are into the 40s and not far away from half-centuries. Their partnership has crossed 80. Anukul Roy has come into the attack and decreased the Afghanistan run-rate, but India A need a wicket.

But he fails to judge the flight of the ball properly, and let's it go right between his fingers. To make it worse, it goes for 4 too. 50-run partnership is also up between Bahir and Faisal.

Bahir Shah looks to play one off the back foot against Vipraj Nigam, but ends up missing the ball, which strikes him on the pads. Big appeal from Vipraj, but the umpire gives it not out. Couple of balls later, Faisal Shinozada edges it down third-man for 4.

The 100-run mark comes up for Afghanistan A. Faisal Shinozada and Bahir Shah are stitching a handy partnership after the loss of their third wicket. It'll be important for India A to break the stand soon.

Afghanistan A's Bahir Shah gets into the act now. He opts for the sweep strategy against Nishant Sindhu, and it works a treat, resulting in two boundaries in a row. Afghanistan A nearing the 100-run mark.

A boundary for Afghanistan A, as Faisal Shinozada hits a lovely cover drive off Vipraj Nigam's bowling. Despite losing three wickets, Afghanistan's run-rate is still healthy, and ahead of the required rate. As a result, India A need to keep the pressure on with regular scalps.

The third umpire checks it and confirms that Shams had got his fingers below the ball and Priyansh was declared out. Two wickets gone for India A.

However, Faridoon redeems himself on the last ball as Sooryavanshi once again tries to go for a big hit but fails to time it. As a result, Khalid Taniwal takes a good catch at the cover point. FOUR!!! Priyansh Arya gets another boundary on Shams Ur Rahman's delivery. Flatter delivery outside off stump, Priyansh cuts, doesn't bother to keep it down and gets four. Arya smartly finds the gap between the fielders at the cover and the backwards point.

WOAH!!! Priyansh Arya and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi have completely changed the momentum of the game with their powerful hitting. This time, the duo unleashes the fury on Abdullah Ahmadzai, who was bowling his first over of the day. Sooryavanshi welcomes him with a boundary and then goes on to hit a maximum. On the last delivery of the over, Arya does his job perfectly and hammers a huge six. 17 runs come off the over as India A cross the 50-run mark.

As Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is playing a different knock today, Priyansh Arya is also looking in good touch. In the previous over of Faridoon Dawoodzai, Arya hammered two brilliant boundaries as the pacer conceded nine runs in the over. India A have now got the momentum they were looking for.

FOUR!!! Vaibhav Sooryavanshi hits a terrific boundary on Sham Ur Rahman's delivery. Too full outside off, Sooryavanshi gets forward and drives it to sweeper cover, gets the bottom hand into play as the ball races across the boundary line for a four. Sooryavanshi is breaking the shackles now after getting two crucial lifelines in the match.

Lady luck is in the favour of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi today as he once again survives. This time, he tries to go for a big hit on Faridoon Dawoodzai's delivery but fails to time the shot properly. As a result, the ball goes up in the air towards the square leg but the Afghanistan A fielder ends up dropping a sitter. This is a huge blunder by Afghanistan as Sooryavanshi got two lifelines. In the third over, both Sooryavanshi and Priyansh Arya got a boundary as Faridoon conceded 11 runs.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi survives a close call and Afghanistan A players are visibly fumed. They are arguing with the umpire but the decision stands still. The second over by Shams Ur Rahman comes to an end with him conceding just two runs. Afghanistan A bowlers are definitely dominating the proceedings right now.

Oh!! What just happened here? Afghanistan almost got the biggest wicket of the day as Shams Ur Rehman dismissed Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for duck. An outside off delivery, Sooryavanshi cut it towards the point for a boundary. However, Faridoon Dawoodzai dived and took a terrific catch. As Sooryavanshi walked back, the third umpire declared him not out as some part of Faridoon's hand was touching the ground when he held the ball. Such an unfortunate moment for Afghanistan A.

In the first over of Faridoon Dawoodzai, Priyansh Arya got a boundary and three runs as the pacer conceded seven runs. The Tri-Nation A series match between India A and Afghanistan A has finally started. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Priyansh Arya have opened the innings for India A after Prabhsimran Singh was dropped. On the other hand, Faridoon Dawoodzai will be bowling the first over for Afghanistan A. 

Ravichandran Ashwin commented that India A were not able to hold their nerve in the Super Over vs Sri Lanka A.

"These games won't have as many cameras as we are used to seeing in the IPL. The no-ball call in the Super Over was debatable, and the way Sri Lanka delayed coming in to bat in the Super Over really irked the India A side," Ashwin wrote on X.

"The frustration shown by the Indian team was understandable, while what Sri Lanka did was play proper mind games. Great theatre."

As India A are in a do-or-die situation, skipper Tilak Varma has made some shocking changes to the lineup. Opener Prabhsimran Singh has been benched, along with Ayush Badoni and Arshad Khan. Priyansh Arya, Kumar Khushagra, and Anshul Kamboj have been named as the replacements. 

Afghanistan A skipper Imran Mir wins the toss, opts to field against India A in the Tri Nation A series match on Wednesday in Dambulla. 

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has reportedly taken disciplinary action against players involved in the ill-tempered India 'A' versus Sri Lanka 'A' tri-series clash in Dambulla on Monday. According to Cricbuzz, Vishen Halambage is among the prominent targets of the sanctions issued by JJeyapragash, a former Sri Lankan fast bowler and match referee of the game. Curiously, Sri Lanka A wicket-keeper Niroshan Dickwella has also been fined, though it seemed that he was trying to calm the ongoing confrontation between Halambage and Sooryavanshi. Dickwella was fined for a separate violation.
