New Delhi:
In an interview with a Web site, Lorgat said the International Cricket Council was considering ways to work out a Test playoff system, asserting that it could go as far as getting the top-ranked teams to feature in a "final" playoff.
"At the next chief executives' meeting, we will have more discussions and find a way of creating context for test cricket," Lorgat said. "That does not necessarily mean a Test championship, but we could work toward a Test final every year or every second year."
The annual ICC meeting of chief executives from various cricket-playing nations is scheduled for November 30 and December 1.
Lorgat said Test cricket's current problems included the lack of a central championship and contests between nations having little or no relevance to cricket fans in other nations.
"At the moment, unless your home country is playing, one doesn't have much consideration for any series involving other countries," he said.
