GG Dutt memorial cricket: Sporting reach semis with win over Rajasthan

Last year's runners up Sporting Cricket Club shocked Rajasthan Cricket Association, Jaipur by 9 runs to move into semi-final of the 40th All India Goswami Ganesh Dutt Memorial Cricket Tournament 2013. Rajesh Sharma of Sporting was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Rajasthan's skipper Puneet Yadav won the toss and invited Sporting to bat first. After a good start with Vartik Tihara 36 (5x4 b49), and Rahul Tyagi 38 (4x4 b53), Sporting scored a decent total of 224 runs. Rajesh Sharma 62 (7x4 b50) was the highest scorer.

In reply, Rajasthan managed a good start of 74 runs in 15.3 overs with partnership between Ankit Lamba 33 and Saurabh 51 (7x4 b66). Rajesh Bishnoi top scored with 61 (3x4 4x6 b51) but, quite inexplicably, Rajasthan failed to reach the target and scored 215 runs in 40 overs with 7 wickets down.
