Gayle is brute force, Hussey is clever: KKR's mystery man Sunil Narine talks about bowling in the IPL

Kolkata Knight Riders' Sunil Narine has had as much success with the ball as Chris Gayle and Michael Hussey have had with the bat. Famous for being known as 'the mystery spinner,' the West Indian revealed his thoughts on two of the most successful batsmen in Indian Premier League history.

In an interview published on IPLT20.com, Narine said that both batsmen are equally dangerous to bowl against and highlighted why despite their vastly different approaches to batting, can attack with equal ferocity.

"Both are equally dangerous in their own rights. When Gayle gets going it's very hard to keep him quiet. But Hussey always has something up his sleeve. He can hit boundaries and can also sneak in singles," he said.

While Hussey has scored 445 runs from eight innings and has been instrumental in powering Chennai Super Kings' innings, Royal Challenger Bangalore's Gayle smashed the fastest century - the second in IPL 6 - and currently holds the Purple cap. Both batsmen have helped their respective sides get off to blinding starts against oppositions.

"There are not many bowlers who can bowl dot balls at him (Hussey). Gayle will hit sixes and Hussey will find gaps," said Narine.

With 15 wickets from the tournament so far, Narine has been rated as one of the best bowlers in the IPL. He had the purple cap in the last edition and his strategies for bowling to dangerous batsmen are simple yet effective.

Against Gayle for instance, he thinks a positive mindset works best. "I don't think there is any particular area to bowl to him. Once he picks his bowler, he goes after him. You just hope that he doesn't pick you. I don't think he has any particular weakness. If he doesn't click, he doesn't. I think bowling to Chris Gayle is just about having a positive mindset. You back yourself just like he backs himself."
