Yuvraj Singh is ecstatic after he was selected in the 15-member squad for the T20 matches against New Zealand and ICC World Twenty20, starting next month.
Yuvraj Singh is ecstatic after he was named in the 15-member squad for the T20 matches against New Zealand and ICC World T20, starting next month. The flamboyant cricketer has recovered from a nine-month long battle with a rare germ cell cancer and was declared fit to play by BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) doctors yesterday.
Soon after the squads were announced, an excited Yuvraj thanked the BCCI and the selectors on Twitter and said he felt like he was going to play his first match for India. "Can't explain how I feel ! Feels like I'm going to play for india for the first time!want to thank a lot of people. Specially bcci and selectors for showing their faith in me my friends and family my fans and media ! Its a special day for me," he tweeted.
Yuvraj had spent close to three months in Boston for his treatment where he also took three sessions of chemotherapy. Known for his fighting spirit, Yuvi tweeted: "When I was diagnosed with cancer I always thought in my heart that one day I will come back and play for india. And I hope the almighty wil give me another chance in life to do so! So here I am ready to represent my country once again its a huge honour."
Yuvraj, who last played a Test match in last November against the West Indies, thanked his fans and well-wishers and said he was eager to get back onto the field. "And this would not have been possible without the wishes and prayers of the loved ones and dear fans !! I can't wait to step on the field and wave the indian flag ! Iv worked very hard and will go all out in this month to prepare for the t20 w cup! Jai hind !!"
Earlier in the day, in a lighter vein Yuvraj teased the mediapersons waiting outside his house on the micro-blogging site. "Dear media friends kaisa lag raha hai apko mere ghar ke bahar koi chai shai bhijwau ??oops sorry main to ghar pe nahi hoon hehehehe (Dear media friends, how are you feeling while waiting outside my place? Shall I send some tea?? oops Sorry I am not home)."
