Edinburgh, Scotland:

Craig Kieswetter top-scored with 69 as England beat Scotland by seven wickets in their One-Day International at Grange Cricket Club Ground on Saturday.

England reached 213 for three after Scotland posted 211 all out from 49 overs.

Kieswetter's fellow opener Andrew Strauss added 61 for England, while Eoin Morgan hit the winning runs with 16 overs to spare.

"It was good to get a win and good to get a nice start at the top with Straussy," Kieswetter said. "We batted nicely together, got a good bit of banter going and I thought we dovetailed quite well together.

"We'd like to think we can (continue in that vein). It was a really good track to bat on but hopefully it wasn't quite as easy as we made it look."

Scotland got a poor start with the bat when Ryan Watson fell to James Anderson with the fourth ball of the innings.

However, Kyle Coetzer scored 51 in 63 balls for the home side and made a second-wicket partnership of 86 with opener Gavin Hamilton, who scored 48.

Scotland had a solid platform for the innings before spinner Michael Yardy caught and bowled Josh Davey for four and Stuart Broad caught Richie Berrington for three, also off Yardy's bowling.

Scotland's batsmen rallied, with Neil McCallum hitting 22 and Douglas Lockhart posting 46, before England finished off the bottom order.

Yardy was England's top bowler with figures of 3-41.

"There are good signs but saying that is getting boring because we're a better team than that," said Scotland captain Hamilton, who announced after the game that he was stepping down from the role to let Gordon Drummond lead the side. "We probably let ourselves down a little bit."

England was using the match as a warmup ahead of its five-game ODI series against Australia, which begins next week.
