b Gus Atkinson
10.2 OUT! DRAGGED ON! What a start for Gus Atkinson in his maiden Test! Not the kind of shot you associate with the batter of the Kraigg Brathwaite. Atkinson bowls it full and wide on off, Kraigg Brathwaite's eyes light up as he sees the width on offer and tries to cash in. His feet go nowhere and Brathwaite goes hard at the delivery away from his body. The ball comes on slower than the batter anticipated and it catches the inside edge of the angled bat and crashes back onto the stumps. 34/1

Mikyle Louis | 27 | 58 | 4 | 1 | 46.55 |
c Harry Brook b Ben Stokes
21.2 OUT! TAKEN! Harry Brook takes a screamer and West Indies lose Mikyle Louis! Ben Stokes steams from over the wicket and bangs the hard length attacking the stumps, the ball straightens off the deck as Mikyle Louis looks to block and the ball catches the outside edge flying to the right of the second slip. Harry Brook times his dive perfectly and takes a very low one-handed catch. 44/3
Kirk Mckenzie | 1 | 14 | 0 | 0 | 7.14 |
c Zak Crawley b Gus Atkinson
14.2 OUT! CAUGHT! Gus Atkinson gets his second and West Indies are now in some sort of bother after a decent start. Angles this one across on a fuller length does Atkinson, just outside off, Kirk Mckenzie with no foot movement goes for the expansive drive and only manages to get a thick outside edge that flies straight to Zak Crawley at second slip who takes it well around his chest. 36/2
Alick Athanaze | 23 | 56 | 3 | 0 | 41.07 |
c Joe Root b Gus Atkinson
34.2 OUT! CAUGHT! Gus Atkinson has three and this has been an exceptional start to his Test career! Comes from over the wicket and angles it away just outside off, from a good length, Alick Athanaze looks for a tentative push and gets a thick outside edge in front of the first slip. Joe Root dives ahead and gobbles it up nicely to see the back of Alick Athanaze who was looking good for West Indies. 88/4
Kavem Hodge | 24 | 48 | 3 | 1 | 50 |
c Ollie Pope b Chris Woakes
35.3 OUT! CAUGHT! Ollie Pope grabs an excellent catch and Chris Woakes completes 150 wickets in Test cricket. This is short and wider on off, there to be hit. Kavem Hodge opens up his stance and shifts his weight back to cut it and does so too. He gets it off the middle of the bat but finds the fielder at point, who is in really tight. Ollie Pope goes low and grabs it to his left. From 88-3, West Indies have slipped to 88-7. 88/7
Jason Holder | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
c Harry Brook b Gus Atkinson
34.3 OUT! TAKEN! A golden duck for Jason Holder on his return to the side! Things just got from bad to worse for the West Indies! Gus Atkinson bowls it shorter of a length and angles it into the right-hander on a length. The ball straightens off the deck as Jason Holder looks to tuck it across the line. The ball catches the leading edge and goes straight into the bread basket of Harry Brook at third slip. Gus Atkinson now on a hat-trick! 88/5
Joshua Da Silva Wk | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
c Jamie Smith b Gus Atkinson
34.5 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Gus Atkinson making bowling look incredibly easy! A FIVE-FER on debut! Slants this one into the right-hander on a good length just around the channel on off. The ball stays low off the deck and Joshua Da Silva gets deceived by the lack of bounce. The ball gets through off the inside edge of the bat and goes to the left of Jamie Smith behind the stumps who makes no mistake in claiming his first catch in Test cricket. 88/6
Alzarri Joseph | 17 | 9 | 4 | 0 | 188.88 |
c Chris Woakes b Gus Atkinson
38.1 OUT! CAUGHT! Another one against the name of Gus Atkinson and this is starting to feel like a dream for the debutant! Comes from over the wicket and bowls it on a good length over middle and off, Alzarri Joseph looks to continue his counter attack and goes for the heave a bit too early. The ball goes high up in the air and Chris Woakes at mid off settles under it to complete the catch. 106/8

c Ollie Pope b Gus Atkinson
38.3 OUT! CAUGHT! Another one bites the dust and Gus Atkinson is in the mood to shatter a few records on debut! Digs this short and on middle and off, Shamar Joseph looks to whip it across the line but loses his shape with his front leg slipping at the worst of times. He gets a leading edge that balloons towards Ollie Pope at backward point who takes a pretty simple catch. 106/9
Jayden Seales | 2 | 8 | 0 | 0 | 25 |
lbw b James Anderson
41.4 OUT! LBW! A huge appeal and up goes the dreaded finger! James Anderson finally gets a wicket to wrap the West Indies innings for just 121 runs on the board. Comes from over the wicket and bowls it straight onto middle and on a length with some inward movement, Jayden Seales looks to keep it out but is undone by the angle and gets beaten flush onto his front pad. Jayden Seales sends it upstairs for a review but the UltraEdge confirms no bat involved and three reds come up on the BallTracking allowing for the loudest cheer of the day from the crowd as James Anderson grabs one under his name. 121/10

b Jayden Seales
30.5 OUT! CLEANED HIM UP! A superb yorker by Jayden Seales! He is thrilled to bits as he stretches his arms wide open and sets out on a celebratory run. Seales stays over the wicket and slips in a toe-crushing yorker, Zak Crawley's height works against him on this occasion. He is late to get his bat down and the ball tails in a bit to sneak past the inside edge. Goes through the gap between the bat and the pad to rattle into the leg pole. As per Ian Bishop on air, this is the 4th time in 4 games has Seales dismissed Crawley in Test cricket. 153/3
Ben Duckett | 3 | 13 | 0 | 0 | 23.07 |
c Joshua Da Silva b Jayden Seales
7.2 OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Jayden Seales gets the first strike for the West Indies, moments before Tea. Seales gets his reward for keeping it full and making the batter drive. Stays over the wicket and tries to get the ball to shape back into the left-hander but it does not as it goes across with the over-the-wicket angle. However, that actually works in favour of the bowler as Ben Duckett gets lured into the drive and ends up getting a feather on it. The edge is snaffled safely by the keeper, Joshua Da Silva, diving low in front. 29/1
Ollie Pope | 57 | 74 | 11 | 0 | 77.02 |
lbw b Jason Holder
26.3 OUT! LBW! Jason Holder gets the much-needed breakthrough for West Indies! Comes from over the wicket and bowls a fullish-length delivery into the stumps, ranging into middle and leg. Ollie Pope looks to flick this one away too but fails to make the connection as his head falls over towards the off side. The ball wears him low on the toe and the umpire raises his finger. Ollie Pope sends it upstairs for a review and the UltraEdge shows no spike. The Ball Tracking confirms all three reds and the onfield call stays. England lose Pope and the review. This is not the first time in this innings or even in his career that Pope has been caught falling over to the off side while attempting the flick. He needs to work on that aspect of his batting or he could become a sitting duck for bowlers who can swing the ball into him. 123/2
Joe Root | 68 | 114 | 7 | 0 | 59.64 |
b Gudakesh Motie
66.3 OUT! BOWLED! He has done it again. He got Stokes after Drinks and now he has got Root moments before Lunch. It is all about the seam presentation from Gudakesh Motie. He lands it perfectly on the seam and gets it to angle back in. It seems like an arm ball, delivered with pace and when it lands on the seam, it looks like an in-dipper. This is landed outside off and Joe Root looks to drive it through the covers but misses it completely as he ends up playing inside the line of the ball. It zips through to knock the off stump out. Root flashes a big smile on his face and probably mutters something about the quality of that ball to Smith on his way back to the pavilion. Root departs for a well-made 68 and England are 287/6, leading by 166. 287/6
Harry Brook | 50 | 64 | 5 | 1 | 78.12 |
c Joshua Da Silva b Alzarri Joseph
50.4 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! The short-ball ploy does work for West Indies. The on-air commentators have been talking about it for a while now, and finally the message has been passed out to the bowlers as well. West Indies strike for the first time on Day 2 to break this solid partnership. Harry Brook gets an ovation on his way back for his well-made fifty. Alzarri Joseph serves a sharp bouncer this time, on off, while flies above the shoulder level. Harry Brook hangs back and looks to go for the hook shot but only manages to lob it high up in the air off the top edge. Joshua Da Silva did not even have to move an inch behind the stumps to gather it. Harry Brook has gifted away his wicket here. Maybe, if this had been a white-ball game, Brook might have attempted the upper cut, which would have been more profitable, given the distance he was away from the ball. 244/4
Ben Stokes C | 4 | 11 | 0 | 0 | 36.36 |
b Gudakesh Motie
55 OUT! TIMBER! The off stump goes for a walk here. Gudakesh Motie bowls a peach of a delivery here to get rid of the English skipper, that too, cheaply. Motie tosses it up, full and outside off. The ball though lands on that rough patch created by the footmarks. The ball grips and turns in sharply. Ben Stokes prods n an attempt to defend it out but gets beaten on the inside edge. The ball curves in the air and then sneaks through the gap and crashes into the stumps. Hope is back in the West Indies dressing room. One more wicket in this session could make things interesting. The lead reads 133. 254/5
Jamie Smith Wk | 70 | 119 | 8 | 2 | 58.82 |
c Kirk Mckenzie b Jayden Seales
90 OUT! CAUGHT! Jamie Smith holes out this time around. It is a short ball, around off. Jamie Smith stands tall and pulls it to deep square leg here. Kirk Mckenzie rushes to his right in the deep, and takes a sharp low catch sliding to that side. England are all out for 371. 371/10
Chris Woakes | 23 | 43 | 4 | 0 | 53.48 |
c Mikyle Louis b Jayden Seales
82 OUT! CAUGHT IN THE DEEP! The new ball does the trick for West Indies and they have managed to break a healthy partnership here, to see the back of Chris Woakes who was playing the supporting role really well so far. Jayden Seales dishes a full delivery, tailing into the right-hander. Chris Woakes stays back inside the crease and tries to get his wrists work into the game, as he flicks this to deep square leg nonchalantly, although fails to get the distance on it as he hits it straight down the throat of Mikyle Louis who makes no mistake in the deep. The 52-run stand has been broken and ENGLAND ARE 339/7, LEADING BY 218. 339/7
Gus Atkinson | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
c Joshua Da Silva b Jason Holder
82.5 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Gus Atkinson, the man who picked 7 wickets in the first innings, gets a bitter taste of his own medicine. He has to walk back for a golden duck here. Jason Holder is elated with this wicket. They need two more wickets to have a go with the bat again. Jason Holder serves a length ball, outside off. The ball nips away a bit off the deck. Gus Atkinson thinks he can take it on, but only manages to find a thick outside edge as he leaves his bat hanging away from the body. Joshua Da Silva behind the stumps dives to his right and gathers the ball in his gloves cleanly. 342/8

Shoaib Bashir | 17 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
run out (Mikyle Louis)
89.2 OUT! RUN OUT! Bullzeye from Mikyle Louis. He has been ever present in the field and with his outstanding effort now, we see Shoaib Bashir making his way back to the pavilion. It is a full-length ball, around off. Jamie Smith swings hard and ends up slicing it towards covers. Louis comes charging in from the deep but the ball lands safely. Although, to remain on strike Jamie Smith calls in for the second run, Shoaib Bashir though is a bit late into his charge. Mikyle Louis sets himself up nicely and scores a direct hit at the non-striker's end. Interesting is the celebration to follow. Mikyle Louis runs all the way to the boundary, actually to meet his brother Jeremiah Louis, who is also in the squad, to brag about his throw. Nice to see. 367/9

b James Anderson
8.1 OUT! BOWLED! That's gone through his defense and it is wicket number 702 in first-class cricket for the Lord of Lord's. The bowling was exceptionally relentless while the batting was matching it well, not playing too many loose shots. But good bowlers always find a way to get past the batters and Jimmy has found one again. On a good length, outside off, Kraigg Brathwaite looks to play that from the crease, not because of the length, but because he is not sure which way will the ball move. He is tentative, is late and the ball nips back, beats the inside edge and hits the top of middle. In 2017, Brathwaite was the 500th victim of Jimmy in Test cricket and he was dismissed in exactly the same fashion, albeit that was much fuller. This is the 8th time in Tests that he has got the West Indian skipper out. After a watchful opening 30 minutes, West Indies don't have much to show, as they have weathered the storm, but are just 12/1, trailing by 238! 12/1

Mikyle Louis | 14 | 49 | 2 | 0 | 28.57 |
c Jamie Smith b Ben Stokes
17.2 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Mikyle Louis gets dragged into playing this shot and he has given away his crucial wicket. A small break in play, and England do manage to cash in on the opportunity here. Ben Stokes dishes a length ball, outside off. The ball shapes away a touch. Mikyle Louis ends up hanging his bat away from his body, really for the first time in this innings. The ball gets nicked and Jamie Smith makes no mistaken behind the sticks. England have their third wicket here. 32/3
Kirk Mckenzie | 9 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
lbw b Ben Stokes
11.3 OUT! LBW! The finger goes up as Ben Stokes puts in an appeal for LBW. Kirk Mckenzie though has a quick chat with his partner and takes it upstairs. Ben Stokes dishes a length ball, around middle and leg. The ball straightens a bit and goes on to hit Kirk Mckenzie on his back foot. The UltraEdge confirms that no bat is involved. The Ball Tracking confirms three reds and the on-field decision stands. Ben Stokes picks up his 200th wicket in Test cricket. He becomes just the third cricketer to score 6000 runs and have 200 wickets in the red-ball format. Sir Garry Sobers and Jacques Kallis are the other two who hold this record. 17/2
Alick Athanaze | 22 | 47 | 4 | 0 | 46.80 |
c Jamie Smith b James Anderson
28.2 OUT! Edged and taken! Wicket number 703 for Jimmy in first-class cricket. The setup works eventually. He was trying to work up Athanaze, trying to get the ball away from the left hander and get the outside edge. He bowled dot ball after dot ball after dot ball and glorified the phrase - patience is virtue. After quite a few balls in line of the stumps, James Anderson just keeps it outside off, on a fuller length and invites Alick Athanaze to have a go at it. Athanaze falls into the trap, looking to drive but only manages a thick outside edge. It goes quick and low to the left of the keeper, Jamie Smith, who gets low to his left and takes it with both gloves. Athanaze departs for 22 from 47 balls, WEST INDIES ARE 55/5 and are still 195 behind. 55/5
Kavem Hodge | 4 | 5 | 1 | 0 | 80 |
b Gus Atkinson
18.3 OUT! CHOPPED ON! Kavem Hodge got off the mark with a boundary, unfortunately the only highlight of his innings. Gus Atkinson dishes a good-length delivery, outside off, nips in a bit. Kavem Hodge hangs back and looks to cut it away, although the ball catches the inside edge this time and crashes into the stumps. The hero of the first innings, adds another wicket to his Test match tally. 37/4
Jason Holder | 20 | 59 | 2 | 0 | 33.89 |
c Ollie Pope b Gus Atkinson
34.5 OUT! CAUGHT! Gus Atkinson picks up his second wicket of the innings, this one though has been created out of nothing. The ploy of getting Ollie Pope at short leg has brought them a wicket here. Gus Atkinson dishes a short ball, around middle, which gets big on Holder, who is already a very tall lad. Jason Holder gets his blade very high and ends up chipping it in front of short leg. Ollie Pope there dives in front of him to take a stunner. West Indies are teetering at 79/6 at the end of DAY 2. THAT WILL BE STUMPS. 79/6
Joshua Da Silva Wk | 9 | 26 | 1 | 0 | 34.61 |
c Jamie Smith b James Anderson
37.1 OUT! EDGED AND GONE! An absolute seed by James Anderson on highly likely the last day of his last dance. Test scalp number 704 for the great man and his family in the stands is delighted. Anderson pitches it on a length and angles it in, on off, Joshua Da Silva plays for the ball angling into him and shapes up to work it across the line on the leg side by closing the bat's face early. The ball pitches and then nips away enough to catch the outside edge of the bat of Da Silva and Jamie Smith snaffles it with ease. 3rd wicket of the inning for Anderson. He rejoices and soaks in all the admiration from the crowd at Lord's. 88/7
Alzarri Joseph | 8 | 9 | 1 | 0 | 88.88 |
c Ben Duckett b Gus Atkinson
40.1 OUT! IN THE AIR AND TAKEN! TEN wickets in the match for Gus Atkinson! The short-ball ploy to Joseph has done the trick for the debutant. 7 wickets in the first inning and 3 so far in the second inning for Atkinson. He becomes the first Englishman to take 10 wickets in his maiden Test at home since 1946. Coming to the delivery, this was banged into the deck again and it rose to trouble Alzarri Joseph a bit. Joseph hangs on the back foot and swivels to fetch the ball from off. Fails to get the distance behind it and it goes only as far as deep backward square leg. Ben Duckett is stationed there for this mode of dismissal. Duckett runs to his right and slides to take a safe catch. Atkinson holds the red cherry aloft and soaks in the applause from the crowd. A moment to cherish for the rest of the life for the man from Chelsea. 96/8

42.2 OUT! KNOCKED HIM OVER! A good change in length from Gus Atkinson. 11th scalp for him in this Test. Atkinson steams in from over the stumps and cannons a vicious yorker, aiming at the off-pole, Shamar Joseph clears his front leg for room to access the off side and swings the bat hard, but meets only thin air. The ball though, powers into the off-stump and uproots the peg. Atkinson kept bowling back-of-a-length deliveries and Joseph would have thought that this might also be a half-tracker, but a cunning length variation from Atkinson this. Straight into the blockhole. No 5-fer for Anderson in his last dance, but a highly likely one for Atkinson in both innings. England is just a scalp away from a clinical win. 103/9
Jayden Seales | 8 | 12 | 1 | 0 | 66.66 |
c Ben Duckett b Gus Atkinson
47 OUT! IN THE AIR AND TAKEN! Gus Atkinson wraps up in style with a sensational 5-fer. He ends up with 12 wickets in his first Test. England clinically win by an inning and 114 runs. Gus Atkinson bends his back and bangs a short-pitched delivery on the stumps, Jayden Seales reacts quickly to the length, readies himself for the pull shot, and transfers the weight on the back foot. He does connect the shot well and pulls in the air towards the deep square leg area. However, he couldn't power away the ball over the fence and Ben Duckett stationed right on the boundary at deep square leg, judges the catch well and grabs it safely over his head. All good things do come to an end, they say! James Anderson ends his illustrious 21-year Test career on that note with 704 wickets to his name in 188 matches. 136/10
