17:20 hrs IST: And that's it from us. Hope you enjoyed our coverage. Join us for the third and final Test that will take place in Indore, starting Saturday.

17:15 hrs IST: Losing skipper Ross Taylor lamented the result.

Ross Taylor: "Very impressive, the way the bowlers got stuck in in hot, humid conditions, we put India under pressure, but credit to them for withstanding it, Saha in both innings. To be honest, we thought the pitch would be different. A good cricket wicket, it's just been relaid, and is going to get better and better.

"I guess anytime you have a 112-run deficit, you're always under pressure. We got some early wickets, but the partnership between Saha and Rohit took it away from us. I thought Tom Latham was outstanding today. Never been to Indore before, it will be interesting to see what the wicket will be like. Good to see Kane Williamson at the ground today, still a bit pale, but knowing him, he'll be back in the nets tomorrow."

17:12 hrs IST: India captain Virat Kohli said: "Lovely Test match, a brilliant Test wicket, apart from the variable bounce here and there, it will get better and better. Those extra runs in the end, Saha, and Bhuvi and Shami contributing in the end, was crucial.

"Saha was brilliant, he's the best keeper in the country, he's doing a great job in Test cricket. That hundred in West Indies really improved his confidence, he understands how to bat with the tail now. First innings, we understood we threw it away with a few loose shots, second innings the New Zealand bowlers really put us under pressure.

"Really happy for Rohit as well, stuck it out, handled the pressure really well, and you know his love affair with Eden. More than anything, the crowd helped us pick up those wickets today. Especially someone like Shami, running in, it makes a big difference to a bowler's mindset. Our objective is to keep playing consistent cricket, having rankings and getting to number one and dropping it is not in our hands, but with this long season, it's in our control in my opinion," concluded Kohli.

17:08 hrs IST: "I'm very happy for winning the series and getting my first man of the match. My teammates and the crowd supported me a lot. Not much pressure. I'm just going in to bat, defending the good balls, rotating the strike, and putting the bad ball away to the boundary," said Saha.

"The West Indies hundred boosted my confidence, but I didn't score much in Kanpur, that's why I took my time in the initial few balls. I just did my job behind the stumps, nothing much. I just keep watching the ball till the last, and soft hands, that's it."

17:04 hrs IST: Wriddhiman Saha, on his home ground, is named the man of the match!

17:00 hrs IST: "In India we generally don't get these kinds of wickets. When you get one, you just try to make the most of it. When you contribute to a win, it's something special for you. Thanks to physio and trainer, they worked hard with me (on ankle injury). Shami is the most lazy person in the team, but when he's on the field he always gives it 100%. It's a sweet victory, because you don't generally get these sorts of wickets (in India) which help seamers," Bhuvneshwar said after the win.

16:58 hrs IST: From 104/1 New Zealand collapsed to 197 all out! Drastic collapse!

14:08 hrs IST: Latham was almost out there! Leading edge, bowler Ashwin and captain Kohli both went for the catch and both had to slow down otherwise they would have run into each other. A missed opportunity

10:55 hrs IST: And this too happened at Eden on October 2

10:48 hrs IST: And this started the proceedings in the morning

10:45 hrs IST: New Zealand have started on a slow note. The task for them is to survive the wicket for 2 days with only 10 wickets. Runs will automatically. No side in the history of the Eden Gardens has ever scored 376 at the hallowed ground

10:38 hrs IST: It is Latham and Guptill out there to face Bhuvi and Shami

10:33 hrs IST: Ok New Zealand are out there to chase the target

10:31 hrs IST: 376 is how much V.V.S. Laxman and Rahul Dravid put on in that 2001 partnership against Australia at the same ground.

10:28 hrs IST: The highest fourth innings total at the Eden is 325/3 by India against the West Indies way back in 1948

10:20 hrs IST: Ok so the umpires have given Mohammed Shami out for 1.

10:15 hrs IST: Nicked and dropped or caught at gully? The umpires have gone upstairs. What will it be?

10:13 hrs IST: Shout for LBW by Boult! Umpire turns him down

10:10 hrs IST: A stat attack for you: Three India keepers before Wriddhiman Saha have got two fifty-plus scores in a Test. MS Dhoni (4 times), Farokh Engineer and Dilawar Hussain (also at Eden Gardens)

10:03 hrs IST: FOUR! And that's fifty for Saha. His second of the match and 4th overall. A well-compiled innings from him. India are 259/9 after 75 overs.

09:58 hrs IST: WICKET! Wagner gets his first of the innings. Bhuvneshwar departs for 23. India are 251/9 after 74 overs.

09:50 hrs IST: Saha is nearing his 4th Test half-century. He had also scored a half-century in the first innings

09:45 hrs IST: India reach 250! The way the home team recovered from the collapse yesterday is commendable.

09:41 hrs IST: Four! These are doing well at the crease

09:37 hrs IST: How do you reckon?

09:34 hrs IST: We had a pretty strong crowd yesterday because it was a Sunday but today as of now it is quite empty

09:30 hrs IST: Saha and Bhuvi have already hit a couple of boundaries this morning and India are batting at 239/8.

09:28 hrs IST: And we have Wriddhiman Saha and Bhuvneshwar Kumar at the crease with Matt Henry to complete his unfinished over from yesterday

09:25 hrs IST: India ended Day 3 being 339 runs ahead of the visitors, which is a challenging target already on this wicket

09:20 hrs IST: And it was BCCI president Anurag Thakur who rang the bell on Monday morning, marking the start of play.

09:15 hrs IST: Hell and welcome to Day 4 of the second Test between India and New Zealand. The match as you know is being played in Kolkata

Wriddhiman Saha will look to score some quick runs and increase India's lead on Day 4.

At stumps, Wriddhiman Saha was on 39 and Bhuvneshwar Kumar on eight at the crease. New Zealand bowlers Matt Henry and Mitchell Santner took three wickets each.

"I think 340-odd lead is probably good enough on that kind of wicket, but we have two more wickets, and the remaining batters will hopefully get some more runs," Rohit said after the day's play.

A 300-plus total has never been successfully chased at Eden Gardens. With the pitch troubling the batsmen throughout the first three days and the Indian bowlers in terrific form, the match is for the hosts to win.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja would hope to take India to a second consecutive win over New Zealand to ensure India regain No. 1 Test ranking.
