09:15 hrs IST:Â Play will start 15 minutes earlier because of the rain delay
09:10 hrs IST:Â Good morning and welcome to the third day's play between India and New Zealand.
New Zealand trail India by 188 runs with just three wickets remaining. If India can take a big lead, they would aim to pile more misery on the visitors by giving them a big total to chase. India need a win to become world No. 1 in Test rankings.
At stumps after a rain-hit second day's play at Eden Gardens, the Black Caps were struggling against India, who posted 316 in their first innings, with BJ Watling on 12 and Jeetan Patel on 5 battling to survive.
Getting good support from new-ball partner Mohammed Shami, Kumar made life difficult for the visiting batsmen. He recorded his fourth five-wicket haul in 15th Test, but it was also his first on home soil.
It would be interesting how far can the the New Zealand batsmen restrict the Indian bowlers on the third day.
