The CCL reiterated that it was ready to fulfil Team India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's dream project of setting up a cricket academy in his home town.

Ranchi:

The Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) on Thursday reiterated that it was ready to fulfil Team India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's dream project of setting up a cricket academy in his home town.

CCL would help MS Dhoni in every respect in his endeavour to set up an academy in Ranchi, CCL CMD R K Saha said in response to a query at a news conference here.

A couple of years ago, both CCL and Dhoni had agreed to set up the academy, provided the cricketer gets land from the Jharkhand government, said another senior CCL official, who requested not to be quoted.

Dhoni's cricketing engagements have so far stalled the process of setting up the academy, he added.

"The advent of Dhoni has inspired the youngsters in Jharkhand, which is amply evident in the ongoing IPL tournament where five players from the state are playing for different teams. If Dhoni's cricket academy materialises, the state would have a bright future in cricket," the CCL official said.
