England announced the 16-man Test squad for the forthcoming series against Pakistan in the UAE that starts in January.

This is England's first Test series since they became World No. 1 during the series against India.

Stuart Broad , Eoin Morgan and Chris Tremlett have made a comeback in the squad after suffering injuries as England face their first overseas Test tour since retaining the Ashes in Australia last winter.

National selector Geoff Miller was wary of the Pakistan side which has found rhythm after beating Sri Lankam, "This is an important series given it is our first Test series since hosting India in August this year and we expect a stern challenge against a Pakistan side that will be accustomed to playing in the UAE."

Miller also hinted at strong preparations for the tour during the extensive break the team was equipped with. "We've been very pleased with the preparations undertaken by a number of players during what continues to be a lengthy break from international cricket. Several players including Andrew Strauss, Eoin Morgan, Matt Prior, James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Chris Tremlett are attending training camps with the England Performance Programmes in South Africa and India. With a long lead-in period once the squad arrives in Dubai there will be a substantial amount of preparation time to acclimatise and adapt to the conditions.

Monty Panesar, who has witnessed a strong domestic season has been included in the side, in the view of the conditions favouring spin bowling in Abu Dhabi. Ravi Bopara also gets another chance to establish his credentials as a Test Player.
