BCCI accepting review system will be in larger interest of sport: PCB

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman, Zaka Ashraf has advised the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to review its stance on the enforcement of the controversial Decision Review System (DRS).

Ashraf told the media here that the DRS was a constructive step forward and good for the sport and as such India should also review its policy on the implementation of the DRS system.

"I feel accepting the DRS system will be in the larger interest of the sport," he said.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) at its recent meetings in Kuala Lumpur backed off from making the DRS mandatory for all Test matches by its Test playing nations after India opposed the system insisting it was not 100 percent error free.

But Ashraf said majority of the decisions taken under the DRS had been good for the umpires, players and cricket.

"It is a system which is also beneficial for the umpires in the long run," Ashraf said.

Pakistan has been a staunch supporter of the DRS and is presently trying to acquire sponsorship for using it in the one-day internationals scheduled against Australia in the UAE next month.
