BAN vs PAK 1st Test LIVE
Pakistan run out of answers - The final session followed a similar pattern, with Bangladesh tightening their grip on the game through another dominant batting effort. Mominul Haque remained solid and added a fluent 75-run stand with Mushfiqur Rahim before falling for 91, just short of a deserved ton. Pakistan's bowlers rarely troubled the batters, with Noman Ali leaking runs despite picking up a wicket and also struggling with his run-up, bowling multiple No-Balls. Even the second new ball brought little success as Mushfiqur and Litton Das safely saw out the session, with Rahim staying unbeaten on 48.
Shanto century caps dominant session - The second session belonged entirely to Bangladesh as Shanto and Mominul stitched together a superb 170-run partnership that completely shifted the momentum of the game. The duo frustrated Pakistan's bowlers on a flattening surface, rotating strike consistently while punishing anything loose. Shanto eventually brought up a brilliant century before Mohammad Abbas finally broke the stand right before Tea, but Bangladesh still headed into the break firmly in control.
Bangladesh rebuild after early collapse - Pakistan made the perfect start after opting to bowl first in Mirpur, reducing Bangladesh to 31/2 inside the opening hour with Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali striking early. However, once the new-ball threat faded, Bangladesh slowly settled in. Najmul Hossain Shanto absorbed the pressure beautifully and began counterattacking, while Mominul Haque played the anchor's role in a crucial rebuilding phase.
A day that belonged completely to Bangladesh after being asked to bat first in Mirpur, scoring over 100 runs in each session to take complete control of the contest. Despite the early blows, they showed immense composure to recover strongly and move into a commanding position. It was a tough day out for Pakistan, and while the decision to field first may already be proving costly, they will still hope for quick wickets on Day 2 to pull things back.
Much fuller and wide outside off. Mushfiqur Rahim isn't bothered to offer any shot at it. That will be STUMPS ON DAY 1!
Full-length delivery, on off, Mushfiqur Rahim pushes it the right of the covers.
A bit slower than the previous delivery. Afridi asking Rahim to take a hit on it, delivering on a length, angling away. Rahim covers the stumps and lets it through.
Another good leave from Rahim! Afridi drags his length back, shaping it just outside off. Mushfiqur Rahim lets it travel to the keeper.
Angling away, from the off stump, on a good length, Mushfiqur Rahim lifts his bat and makes a leave at it.
Afridi fires a good-length delivery, around off. Mushfiqur Rahim drives it to the cover region.
